Just because we don’t hear God’s voice, does not mean we should stop our pursuit of him. I believe the passion behind many of David’s Psalms was fueled by the pleading of his heart and his constant prayer to God, even when he did not hear a response. The Gentile woman is another great example. She begged for her daughter’s healing and continued to pursue Christ even when he did not respond and she was discouraged to continue. “‘But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away.'” Matthew 15:23-28 There is a blessing in persistence, especially as it pertains to our God. Jesus encourages us to pursue him. ‘“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.'” Matthew 7:7-11 It is important to remember God’s timing is not our timing. When we put God on our schedules, we’re left feeling anxious, frustrated, confused, and sometimes disappointed. God hears our prayers and cries; he hasn’t forgotten about us. We cannot let the pursuit of him be stopped by our circumstances. Despite our disappointment, anxiousness, frustration, and confusion, we must seek God, ask, and have faith that he hears us, will answer, and add it to us according to his will.
